1979 Volkswagen Baywindow Bus

We knew we were going to have to pull the engine, so we did! With the engine and gearbox out we can start to diagnose what exactly went wrong - which was a lot! We've found cooked wiring, mouse nests, and a surprising couple of screws holding the thermostat flapper closed. That's not a good idea, and with the rest of the thermostat assembly missing it's curious as to why they decided to screw it closed rather than keep it open.
