1954 Jaguar XK120- Start of Metalwork

We’re very fussy about carefully stripping the paint on a project. With this one, the owner hand-stripped the outside surfaces with a DA sander. While we usually send bodies out for sandblasting, we chose to do this one onsite in our “dirty room.” It’s a messy job but gets the metal clean.

As shown, the inner fenderwells and other parts of the car were now ready for work.

After a lot of measuring, we started working on the left hand inner B pillar. We made a cardboard template of the part we needed, then shaped and trimmed the piece in 20 gauge steel.

We TIG welded the piece in.

After grinding and some hammer/dolly work, the repair was complete.
