1977 Triumph TR7 Race Car – Beginning Safety Improvements

We’ve removed the front and rear glass for better access to the roll cage for the upcoming addition of a dash bar and rear cross-brace for the seat. The wiring has been completely removed as well and we’ll be fabricating a new, much more simplified wiring harness and dashboard once the roll cage has been modified.

In addition to the roll cage modifications, we’ll be removing the original seat brackets and widening the driver’s floorboard area to allow the Kirke race seat to sit both lower and farther back. We’ll also be filling in lots of random holes, cracks, and the large factory drain plug holes, one of which is uncomfortably directly below the pedal cluster.

We removed the exhaust system and will be relocating it a few inches to the right in order to allow us to widen the bottom of the floorboard. We’re carefully drilling out all of the spot welds holding the original driver’s seat mount to the floor, which will allow us to lower the seat and get the driver some more helmet clearance.
