While it looked like a fairly small hole caused by a common issue of rust around the battery, a mouse nest led to a larger repair than initially planned.

The hole and bubbles never seem so bad until you get to the back side!

We made up a repair section and cut away the rusty metal

After finish welding and grinding, we noticed a few pinholes further back.

We cut back some more of the sill and found a large mouse nest (and the skeleton of a mouse!). That nest had held water up to the sill and there was a badly pitted back side to be replaced. We worked so quickly that we didn’t get pictures of the repair being made.

But you can barely see the 2nd patch we put in on the lower section of the sill.

We also made repairs to the inner support, butt welded it to the original section, then spot welded it to the outer repair.

With a little bit of filler, we’ll be able to blend this into the patina of the existing paintwork.
